MAJOR EVENTS REMAIN FOCUS OF ELDORA

From Eldora Speedway

ROSSBURG, OH – Eldora Speedway’s 2010 slate of events has been released, and has become tradition for the renown southwestern Ohio speed plant, major events and diversity of racing remain as the focus.

As a ‘special events facility’ the one-half mile clay oval, under the ownership of two-time NASCAR Cup champion Tony Stewart, will host a variety of sanctioning bodies, including World of Outlaws (WoO), United States Auto Club (USAC), United Midwestern Promoters DirtCar (UMP), National Racing Alliance (NRA), FASTRAK, American Late Model Series (ALMS) and the Ohio State Tractor Pullers Association (OSTPA).

From within this array of organizations, hitting the newly refurbished clay will be a full spectrum of Sprint Cars, including winged/non-winged, 410 cubic inch, 360 cubic inch and 305 cubic inch, as well as Late Models, Modifieds, Stock Cars, Midgets, Silver Crown and pulling tractors/trucks.

Backed by huge tradition and immense popularity, Eldora’s major events continue to be the buzz of the short track industry.

In order of longevity, the famed World 100 for UMP Late Models enters its 40th annual running over its time-honored time slot of September 10 & 11 (the weekend following Labor Day). Up for grabs will be $43,000 for the victor, but most importantly, the legendary globed trophy that has become the goal and envy of dirt Late Model drivers nationwide.

Returning under the WoO auspices, the 27th annual Kings Royal weekend for winged Sprint Cars will take center stage July 16 & 17, with two complete racing programs. Friday’s Knight Before the Kings Royal will again lead into Saturday’s annual chase for $50,000, and a seat atop the celebrated throne in Eldora’s hallowed victory lane.

With 15 years of heritage built into it, the Dirt Late Model Dream returns for the 16th annual running over the weekend of June 11 & 12, and will again feature the highest payoff of the season for UMP Late Models at $100,000 to win.

Packing the most punch of the season, will be the ‘youngest’ of the major events – The Prelude to the Dream. Entering its sixth annual run on Wednesday, June 9, the prominent charity experience features track owner Stewart and a multitude of his NASCAR cohorts in a classic ‘duel in the dirt’.

In addition to the Kings Royal weekend, WoO Sprint dates include the weekend of May 7/8 and Crown #1 of the Four Crown Nationals, September 24.

With the longest history of any sanctioning body at Eldora, USAC will bring their non-winged Sprints in to kick off the season with a two-night stand April 2/3 and then close out the Four Crown September 25 with the Sprints; along with their Silver Crown and Midget divisions.

The ALMS Late Models will take to the Eldora high banks April 17, May 30, September 5 and close the season as part of the UMP National Championships October 8/9.

NRA Sprints join the ALMS Late Models May 30, plus share the limelight during the Knight Before the Kings Royal and then close their season during the October 2 Sprintacular in a tripleheader with the open 410 Sprints plus the 305 Sprints from Attica Raceway Park and Fremont Speedway.

July 31 has been set aside for the annual FASTRAK Late Model appearance, while the UMP Modifieds and Eldora’s Stock Car divisions have numerous events on the plate.

With last year’s inaugural event an overwhelming success, the OSTPA Tractor/Truck Pull returns on June 26.
