AKRON, Ohio (July 22, 2010) – When Goodyear became the exclusive rear tire supplier for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, Joey Saldana and his team embraced the change and immediately began working with Goodyear engineers to get the maximum performance from his Goodyear Eagles.

Fair to say, Saldana and other drivers have given Goodyear solid feedback and helped the tiremaker act as a teammate to all WoO competitors.

Saldana reaped the benefits of quickly learning the chacteristics of his Goodyear Eagles when he was awarded $10,000 as the Goodyear Mid-Season Champion. Saldana’s prize was the largest share of $55,000 Goodyear distributed to the top ten drivers in the standings at the halfway point.

“They have built us a great tire and are doing a great job,” Saldana said. “I think everything has been great. Goodyear is doing a great job and I appreciate the point fund.”

Saldana is seeking his first WoO championship. He has 10 wins so far this season to go with 25 top five finishes and 30 top tens.

“We wanted to be able to help the teams get through the long season and this seemed to be a good way to do that,” said Goodyear marketing manager Justin Fantozzi. “We’re proud to be associated with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and this point fund is an example of our commitment to the competitors.”

The awards for the remainder of the top 10 in the standings are listed below.
