RYAN LITT: STUDYING SALEM

By Tommy Goudge

(August 13, 2010) – Ryan Litt and his London, Ontario-based #07 BS&B Radiator/OTC Tools Beast/Claxton Sprint Car team will be back in action again this Saturday at Indiana’s Salem Speedway in another Must See Racing Extreme Sprint Series event.

Ryan recorded his second Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints feature win of the season last Friday night at the Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan. Ryan has won both Sprint Car events held at Dixie in 2010, and has a chance to sweep all three when the AVSS series returns on Labour Day weekend.

“We always look forward to going to Dixie,” says Ryan. “It is one of our best tracks and we have a lot of loyal fans that watch us there.”

Ryan enters this Saturday’s Must See Racing series event at Salem fifth in the tour points standings with three races left on the schedule. Salem is another of Ryan’s favourite tracks, and he’s looking forward to getting back there after a blown engine at the high-banked track in May. Ryan has two career runner-up finishes at the Southern Indiana track. The prestigious “Joe James/Pat O’Connor Memorial” event also features the USAC National Sprint Car series.

Ryan’s last Must See Racing series event came at the Kalamazoo Speedway on July 17, where he finished sixth after leading much of the race. Fellow London-area driver Mike Ling got the win at the fast three-eighths mile track.

“We never really had the car fast,” says Ryan. “Ling’s car was hooked from the first lap of the day. If it was a normal thirty lapper I had them covered, but I think I burnt my tires off working in and out of the lap cars. I was in fourth until the last restart (when) I tried passing Bloom for third and the lap cars all got together in front of us and we had to check up, then Miniea and McCune got by.”

Ryan recently had the opportunity to hang out with some special kids attending summer camp at Banting Secondary School in London.

“I had a great time at Banting talking to the kids about sprint car racing,” says Ryan. “They had a lot of questions and really dug the autographed pictures and props we brought in!”

Last weekend the ISMA Supermodified tour visited Ryan’s home track at Delaware Speedway. Unfortunately Dave Lair’s “Lair Jet” – Ryan’s regular ride for the event – is on the shelf with a blown engine, and Ryan wasn’t able to find another seat.

“Unfortunately we were unable to put together a deal to run the ISMA races at Delaware, so I didn’t compete this year,” says Ryan. “We’re still working on a ride for the later races though.”

The Salem event will be taped for later broadcast on Comcast in over ninety million U.S. households, and will also be available online on-demand on the Must See Racing website.
