MEMPHIS, Tenn. – USAC veteran Jeff Swindell, Derek Hagar and Justin Carver will head to the historic mile at the Illinois State Fairgrounds for the Tony Bettenhausen 100 Saturday. The three Carl Edwards/ RE Technologies Racing teammates and the USAC Silver Crown Series return to the dirt ovals for the next four races as they cross the midway point in the season.

“I think our chances are a lot better this year,” said the driver of the No. 91 Conrad Sand and Gravel / Dyno Tech/ J&J, Derek Hagar. “We had a good showing at the Hoosier Hundred, have a good car and a great motor so I think we will perform well at Springfield.”

This weekend will mark Hagar’s third trip to the Illinois State Fairgrounds. It will be Justin Carver’s second trip to the one-mile oval behind the wheel of the No. 991 Memphis Fence / Dyno Tech entry. The Drummonds, Tenn. native is coming off a USCS Sprint Car win August 6th at North Alabama Speedway and his first top five Silver Crown finish at Berlin Raceway last Thursday night.

“Our recent finishes will help our momentum coming into Springfield,” said Justin Carver. “I would like to thank Gary Segatti and the crew for preparing good cars.

Jeff Swindell will pilot the No. 199 Roush / Yates Ford Racing/ Red Line Oil entry with Dennis LaCava and Robert Hubbard turning the wrenches. Swindell finished third in Silver Crown points in 1987 and second in points in 1992.

The 2010 Tony Bettenhausen 100 will include a planned race stoppage on lap 51 of the 100-lap event. The intermission will allow teams to make a few changes to their cars. Like the Hoosier Hundred earlier this season, any car that elects to change tires will restart at the rear of the field.

The Silver Crown Series has not seen a driver win twice this season. All three Carl Edwards/ RE Technologies Racing drivers hope to make Saturday’s race, their first Silver Crown win of the season.
