BIS Crash Ends Podium Streak

The run of successive podium’s came to a crashing halt for Danny Reidy during the third round of the Queensland Sprintcar Series at Brisbane International Speedway over the weekend.

After a solid start to the 2010/11 season that has resulted in podium finishes at both the Mackay Spectacular and the opening round of the Queensland Series, Reidy was on track for yet another solid result only for a driver error during his second and final heat race bring his night to a premature end.

“Due to all the rain in Queensland the Brisbane track was quite rutty and I ended up getting caught up in one,” explained Reidy. “I tried my best to save it, but I wasn’t able to and I ended up crashing.”

The crash put Reidy, who had earlier in the night show good speed after he had qualified fifth in time trials and then finished third in his opening heat race, out for the remainder of the night.

“There was too much damage to continue on and we were consequently put out for the night,” the NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort supported Eagle driver said. “The chassis is not a complete ride off, but we’ll have to do a few repairs to it, along with replace the all the usual parts such as wings, shocks and stuff like, in readiness for our trip down to Sydney Speedway next weekend.”

This Saturday night (October 23) Reidy will make his season debut down at Sydney Speedway (Sydney, NSW).

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, Camden Neon Signs, P & M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Mufflers and Inglis Race Engines for all their support throughout the 2010/11 season.
