WSS Round 8 at Avalon

From CDR
The next event on the calendar for Craig Dollansky while in Australia was Round 8 of the World Series Sprintcar Championship action at Avalon Raceway in Geelong, Victoria, Australia.

With 49 competitors ready to do action, Dollansky piloted the D&B Goodyer Development USA #7 to the 8th fastest time in qualifying with a lap of 12.461 seconds. In the first round of heat races, Dollansky started nineth and worked his way up to 4th at the finish. In the second round of heat race competition, the driver out of Elk River, Minnesota drove a strong race from the tenth starting position to finish 3rd. In the pole shootout dash race to determine the starting grid for the feature, Dollansky would start second and finish 2nd.

In the 35-lap A-feature, the USA #7 sprinter started outside pole and had trouble getting off the corners as the car would lean on the right rear and pull wheelies. Dollansky needed lapped traffic to stay in the mix and a caution with nine laps to go hampered the #7 as the leaders were faster in the open track.

Craig and Julie will ring in the 2011 year nearly a full day before the United States and then kick off the new year with what else? Racing. Premier Speedway in Warnambool, Australia is the site for action on January 1st (Dec 31st USA time).
