Strong Finish to WSS Finale for Reidy

By Daniel Powell

A fifth place finish during the final night of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship finale over the weekend at the Perth Motorplex for Danny Reidy and it was a good way to round out his annual Western Australian trip.

Reidy’s fifth place finish resulted in him ending up ninth in the final overall WSS Championship point standings and it capped off what had been a difficult 2010/11 season campaign thus far that has unfortunately been filled with more lows than highs.

“We finished our World Series campaign with a strong result and it was just a shame that we couldn’t have enjoyed similar results on a consistent basis throughout all of the rounds,” commented Reidy. “It certainly hasn’t been one of our strongest of seasons, but we have shown that we have improved our speed, but we just need to work harder on it eventuating into results.”

With the WSS Championship now wrapped up, Reidy headed back to his home base in Queensland on the East Coast earlier this week and that’s where the 26-year-old and the rest of the Reidy Racing team will spend the remainder of the season.

“The plan is to do the majority of shows here in Queensland through to the end of the season, but we’re looking at doing a couple of shows at Dubbo’s Morris Park Speedway and that includes next month’s NSW Championship, but also heading down for the Easter Trail in Victoria and South Australia,” explained Reidy. “It’s been a pretty gruelling past couple of months, so I’m looking forward to running locally and hopefully getting a few feature race wins under our belts.”

The NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort / Titan Plant Hire supported Eagle driver will return to the track this Saturday night (February 26) for the latest round of the Queensland Series at Brisbane International Speedway.

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, Titan Plant Hire, Camden Neon Signs, P & M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines for all their support throughout the 2010/11 season.
