DIVERSITY REMAINS KEY TO ELDORA SUCCESS

ROSSBURG, OH (April 4) – Diversity has long been the staple and success of Eldora Speedway’s schedule of events. By not offering a weekly slate of events, the one-half mile clay oval speed plant is able to host events for a wide variety of racing divisions and sanctioning bodies.

A quick glance at the first five events of the 2011 season can testify to that.

While Mother Nature wiped out any chances of getting in the scheduled season opener on April 2, the UMP (United Midwestern Promoters) Modifieds and Eldora Stock Cars that were scheduled that night, will now join the non-winged Sprint Cars of the United States Auto Club (USAC) in a doubleheader weekend, April 8 and 9 for the Coca-Cola Sprint Classic.

The following weekend (April 16), will see the southwestern Ohio facility turned over to the Sunoco American Late Model Series (ALMS) for the first Late Model appearance of the 2011 menu.

Coming off an Easter break, non-winged Sprint Cars, unsanctioned this time, return April 30 and then the Nation’s most noted winged Sprint Car series, the World of Outlaws (WoO) makes their Eldora debut over the Outlaw Thunder by Goodyear weekend of May 6 & 7.

Eldora’s closest ties to a ‘regular’ division are the UMP Modifieds and Eldora Stock Cars, which will join each of the early season projects.

The alphabet soup of sanctioning bodies and racing divisions doesn’t end with the early season onslaught. Later in the season, competition will be staged for the NRA (National Racing Alliance) Sprint Invaders, VARC (Vintage American Race Cars), USAC Midget and Silver Crown Divisions, mini-trucks, Thunder Roadsters and Legends. Adding to the Eldora diversity this season will be a return of the Ohio State Tractor and Truck Pulling Association, as well as monster trucks.

This variety based menu has exposed many forms of motor sports, which in turn has created a following of race fans to not only Eldora, but to other racing venues as they learn to ‘follow’ their favorites in their travels around the Midwest.
