Shannon McQueen Races Hard in Placerville Gold Country – Scores Another Top 5

By Robert Haugh

Bakersfield, CA – April 9, 2011

Working her way around a fast, slick track in the McQueen Racing #7 Spike/Esslinger, Bakersfield’s Shannon McQueen claimed fifth place on Saturday, April 9 in the Bay Cities Racing Association race at the ¼-mile Placerville Speedway against a stellar 20-car field.

Battling a loose car, McQueen’s mount was excellent middle off, but lacked on entry. By not hitting the corner aggressively, McQueen cautiously avoided potential crashes with fellow competitors on the one-groove track. With about five laps remaining, McQueen tried the top groove and was one of the fastest cars during those laps.

Having started sixth in her Heat race, McQueen methodically passed former BCRA champions Matt Streeter and Nick Foster, Jr., was well as Danny Parker and Britton Bock en route to claiming victory in Heat 2.

McQueen was also the second-fastest car in qualifying, clocking in at 12.383 seconds.

After three strong runs to open the season, McQueen leads both the BCRA Dirt points and USAC-Western States points. Next up for McQueen Racing is the Saturday, April 16 BCRA race at the ¼-mile Marysville Raceway Park – a track where McQueen dominated the field last year. http://www.bcraracing.com/midgetnews.php?subaction=showfull&id=1275275641&archive=&start_from=&ucat=1&
