A Home State Visit: Kraig Kinser Looks Forward to Event at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt

By Parsons Motorsports PR

Granger, IA—April 27, 2011—Early in his career Kraig Kinser had the chance to race at numerous tracks in his home state of Indiana. Having been on the road for a number of years with the World of Outlaws, the opportunity to compete in the Hoosier state have become few and far between. This season the third generation driver will have two chances to race in front of the fans that saw him cut his teeth on the bullrings of the Hoosier State. The first of those two events will be come on Saturday, April 30 as the World of Outlaws make their annual stop at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, which will serve as the season opener at the historic ¼-mile bullring.

Kinser, who pilots the Casey’s General Store Maxim for Parsons Motorsports, raced at Tri-State Speedway a number of times early in his career with a couple of different series before taking to the road full-time with the World of Outlaws in 2004. He finished a career-best third at Haubstadt in 2003, a track at which members of his family have competed at since the 1960’s.

Last season, the third generation driver finished eighth to score his best World of Outlaws finish at the track, after winning the fourth heat race to earn a spot in the dash where he started 10th and finished eighth. He started eighth in the main event and worked his way up to sixth early on, before falling back to 10th. He rallied late to pick up two spots with two laps to go to come home in the eighth position.

Kraig is the third generation of the Kinser family to compete at Tri-State Speedway, along with his father Steve, who has 22 overall wins at the ¼-mile, with eight of those coming in World of Outlaws events, as well as his grandfather Bob, who raced at the track periodically from the late 60’s all the way through 1992, winning three times at the bullring.

Kinser enters the race at Tri-State Speedway this weekend 11th in the World of Outlaws standings on the strength of four Top-10 finishes and a pole position this season and is just 23 points out of the Top-10.

The event originally scheduled for April 23 at Salina Highbanks Speedway in Oklahoma was postponed due to inclement weather and has been reschedule for Tuesday, May 3, marking the series inaugural visit to the high-banked 3/8-mile.

Kraig on Tri-State Speedway:

“I always look forward to going to Haubstadt. It’s close to home and a track I have raced on a lot. It’s a great track and they keep it well maintained. There are usually a couple of grooves to race on. It’s a short track with a wall around it, so it can definitely be intimidating running around there. I’ve never had that good of luck there, though I’ve never really had bad luck either. We just haven’t quite had the finishes we have wanted. It’s always fun to race in Indiana and they have some great fans there.”
