Granger, IA—July 17, 2011–Competing with the World of Outlaws, there is never really much time to dwell on the highs or the lows of a particular night, as there is always another race just around the corner. For Kraig Kinser and the Casey’s General Store team, they look to put a tough trio of events behind them, as they take to the track five times this week in a six-day stretch as the “Month of Money” continues with the second East Coast swing of the 2011 campaign.
The Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30’s is first up at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa. on Tuesday, July 19. The event features two 30-lap main events, with the second race being lined up by an inversion of the lead lap finishers from the opener. The Summer Nationals at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa. will follow on Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23, before the World of Outlaws make their traditional stop at Lebanon Valley Speedway in West Lebanon, N.Y. on Sunday, July 24.
Kinser competed at Lernerville Speedway for the first time with the World of Outlaws in 2004. He has made 11 starts at the high-banked four-tenths-mile, picking up two Top-10 finishes along with way. The native of Bloomington, Ind. finished a career-best ninth in the 2008 Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup. He was 10th in the finale of the Twin 30’s last season.
The third generation driver made his maiden voyage with the World of Outlaws to Williams Grove in 2003. He has competed in 17 main events at the track over the last eight years, picking up six Top-10 finishes along the way. Kinser finished a career-best sixth at Williams Grove in the finale of the 2004 Summer Nationals and also was sixth in the spring of 2006 at the track. Kraig finished eighth both nights during the spring event at ‘The Grove’ last season.
The 2005 Knoxville Nationals winner made his debut at Lebanon Valley Speedway in 2004. He has made five career starts at the ultra high-banked and blazing fast half-mile, picking up two Top-10 finishes. He finished 10th in his first start the track in 2004 and also ran 10th in 2009.
The native of Bloomington, Ind. enters this week 12th in the World of Outlaws standings, just 51 markers out of the Top-10. He looks to rebound from a rough three races in Ohio this past week, which saw him finish 17th in the Knight Before the Kings Royal, while missing the field for the Kings Royal and the Brad Doty Classic.
Kraig on Lernerville Speedway:
“We always enjoy racing at Lernerville. The track is very racy and they have some great race fans up there. The twin feature format in pretty neat and something extra for the fans. You have to really have your car working and make sure you make the right adjustments in between races so that you have something in the second race.”
Kraig on Williams Grove Speedway
“We struggled at Williams Grove in the spring, and learned a few things that will hopefully benefit us when we go back this week. The competition there is always among the best we face all year and you really have to be spot on and do everything right to have a chance there. Qualifying can make or break your night along with having a good pill draw when you sign in.”
Kraig on Lebanon Valley Speedway:
“Lebanon Valley is a track all of its own. It is so high banked and so fast. I’ve had a couple of good runs there in the past. That’s another place where track position is very, very important. You have to always be on top of things there as well, because things happen so fast.”
