McQueen Battles Track Conditions to 12th Place Finish

Ventura, CA – July 16, 2011

Lining up 15th in the feature, Bakersfield’s Shannon McQueen battled a tight condition and changing track conditions, cautiously guiding her McQueen Racing #7 Spike/Esslinger to a respectable 12th place finish in the VRA sanctioned event at the 1/5-mile Ventura Raceway on Saturday, July 16.

Mired in the back of the pack much of the feature, McQueen found it difficult passing cars on the single-groove track, despite posting the fifth fastest lap in practice and timing within one tenth of a second of the feature race winner in the main event. Battling a tight condition as the track was reconfigured just before the Midget main, McQueen ran her fastest lap nearing the conclusion of the race, within one-tenth of the race winner.

Fighting sub par track conditions, McQueen started and finished fifth in Heat 1.

After 11 races on the year, including one feature victory, McQueen continues leading the Bay Cities Racing Association Dirt points.

Next up for McQueen Racing is the Shannon’s first pavement start of the year as she pilots Paul Eskesen’s #10c Beast/Mopar in BCRA competition at the ¼-mile Lakeport Speedway on Saturday, July 23, followed by the BCRA double header, at the ¼-mile Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico on Friday, August 5 and ¼-mile Placerville Speedway in Placerville on Saturday, August 6. Shannon and the entire McQueen Racing team is grateful of Paul for allowing Shannon to chauffer his pavement mount at Lakeport this Saturday – where Shannon recorded a win in her last visit in 2008.

McQueen Racing would like to thank all our wonderful sponsors Lucas Oil Products, K&N Filters, Simpson Race Products, JE Piston Company, Advanced Racing Suspensions, Eibach Springs, Ruth Engineering, American Fabrication and Esslinger Racing Engines by Duane McQueen.
