Big money on the line for 12th Annual 305 Sprint Invite at Fremont

FREMONT, Ohio – The racing in the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints has been very competitive and exciting at Fremont Speedway during the 2011 season. There have been nine different winners in the 12 events and all are looking to make it a big pay day on Sunday, Sept. 4 for the 12th Annual 305 Sprint Invitational on Hoys Night.

Claiming wins in 2011 are Bobby Clark, D.J. Foos and Zack Kramer, each with two wins, while Dean Jacobs, current point leader Stuart Brubaker, Paul Weaver, Nate Dussel, Jimmy Colvin and Paige Polyak each have one.

They, along with the likes of Dustin Dinan, John Ivy, and a host of others will be vying for the $2,500 first place prize – one of the richest events in the nation for 305 sprint cars.

Past winners of the 305 invite are: 2000 – Bobby Foster; 2001- Bryan Scott; 2002 – Roger Shammo; 2003 – Scott Miller; 2004 – Paul Weaver; 2006 – Paul Weaver; 2007 – Andy Shammo; 2008 – Todd Heuerman; 2009 – John Ivy; and 2010, Bryan Sebetto.

“Jim Ford created this race as a way to thank the 305 teams who supported him week in and week out. We will continue that tradition as this division is one of the most competitive in the country,” said Fremont Speedway Promoter Rich Farmer.

The format for the 305 invite offers the teams a unique night of racing.

The drivers will qualify – the only time they do this all year – one lap which will determine their heat race line-ups. The top eight qualifiers who transfer to the feature out of their heats will compete in a “King of the Hill” match race where two cars will run two laps with the winner moving to the next round until there is one champion who will start on the pole of the feature.

Also in competition will be the wheel-hiking late models and door-banging Fremont Fence Dirt Trucks, who will be competing in double features as they make up a rained out event from July in addition to their regular night of racing.

Gates will open at 4 p.m. with racing underway at 7 p.m.
