JA Charges to Second

– Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Jonathan Allard charged his way from his 16th starting position to score and impressive second place finish to open the 2011 Fall Nationals.
JA’s night started off with the Chico, CA naïve clocking his Williams Motorsports entry in with the eighth fastest lap of the nigh putting him in the third heat race.
Allard would score third in his heat, sending him to the feature behind the dash cars, forcing him to roll off in the 16th position.
As the 30-lap feature got underway, JA quickly began working his way up through the star studded field.
The first stoppage of the night came on the ninth lap, and Allard had already moved himself into the top 10 by relentlessly hammering the top of the racetrack.
Once back underway, JA was able to get past Sean Becker and Evan Suggs as he continued to march his way through traffic.
By the 17th lap, JA had moved into fourth, as he was able to get under Rico Abreu for third, as he then proceeded to chase down Willie Croft.
JA made work of Croft with 10 laps remaining, as he fought through lapped traffic chasing after Kyle Larson.
Allard would close up on Larson in lapped traffic as he had moved to the bottom of the speedway.
Larson then took JA’s line away with two laps remaining and, JA moved to the high side as they raced side by side in lapped traffic.
JA made one final effort to get around Larson on the final lap, but came up just short and settled for the second spot.
“We don’t normally run the 360, so it took us all a little bit to adjust,” said JA. “Ashley Smith and all the guys worked hard tonight, and gave me an amazing car. Hopefully tomorrow night we can improve by one spot and win this deal.”
ON TAP: JA will return to action Saturday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway to compete in the Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals.
