National Open Take Two: Kraig Kinser Return to Williams Grove Speedway Along with a Stop at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park

By Parsons Motorsports PR

Granger, IA—Oct. 4, 2011— Weather was the story at the beginning of the 2011 World of Outlaws season and again has taken center stage, as the second night of the $50,000-to win Morgan Hughes National Open at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa. was postponed by rain last Saturday and will be made up this Friday night, which will mark the final visit of the season for Kraig Kinser and the Casey’s General Store team to the famed half-mile for the 40-lap contest.

The World of Outlaws will take to the track at Williams Grove on Friday, Oct. 7 with a full racing program on-tap. The series will then head north to Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge, N.Y. on Saturday, Oct. 8 for an event run in conjunction with Super Dirt Week XL.

Kinser, who competed for the first time with the World of Outlaws at Williams Grove Speedway in 2003, finished 21st in the 25-lap main event at the track last Friday night. The third generation driver has competed in 20 main events at Williams Grove in his career, picking up six Top-10 finishes along the way. The native of Bloomington, Ind. finished a career-best sixth at Williams Grove in the finale of the 2004 Summer Nationals and also was sixth in the spring of 2006 at the track. Kinser finished 21st and 22nd during the Summer Nationals back in July.

The winner of the 2005 Knoxville Nationals made his debut in the National Open in 2004, finishing a very solid 11th. The following season he finished ninth in the 40-lap finale, which to-date is his best career finish in the event. Kinser has raced his way into the main event of the National Open on five occasions.

Kinser led the first 16 laps of the main event at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park last season en route to a fourth-place finish. He made his debut at the sprawling five-eighths-mile in 2004, finishing 10th. He has three career Top-10 runs at the track, with two of those being Top-Fives. The 2004 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award winner has an average finish of ninth in five career main event starts with the series at Rolling Wheels.

Kinser enters the pair of races this weekend eighth in the World of Outlaws championship standings on the strength of 21 Top-10 and five Top-Five finishes, including a win, as he continues his first season driving for the Parsons Motorsports team.

Kraig on Williams Grove Speedway:

“We didn’t quite have the night we were hoping for last week at Williams Grove. We got behind in qualifying, but were able to transfer through the heat into the main event, but that lined us up toward the back. Hopefully the weather is good this weekend and we can put on a great show for the fans. There was a great crowd last Friday night and I’d expect it to be even bigger this Friday night.”

Kraig on Rolling Wheels Raceway Park:

“We ran really strong at Rolling Wheels last season and led a bunch of laps. We’ll try to put ourselves in a good position again this year to contend for the win there. The last couple of times we have gone up there, the track has been really racy. With all the other events going on up there this week, there should be a great turnout of fans.”
