– EASTON, Calif. (Oct. 20) – Tommy Tarlton is excited to announce that he is racing for more than a trophy this weekend.

The sprint car veteran from Easton, Calif., will be competing for the G.L. Bruno Family Foundation and the Children’s Hospital Central California. Tarlton will donate a sizeable portion of his winnings from Friday and Saturday night at the 18th annual Trophy Cup at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif.

“It’s a big weekend of racing for something more than a win,” he said. “Whenever we’re racing for something like this it adds a different dynamic to your driving. I’m not just racing for the win, trophy and my team. I’m racing for some great causes.”

Since winning the prestigious Trophy Cup in 2000, Tarlton has a myriad of top-10 finishes. Last year he ended up fifth out of the 75-car field and his expectations for this weekend are nothing short of victory.

“I’ve always been in contention,” he said. “I think the race suits my style of racing. I like the way you have to race every time you hit the track.

“It means a lot to do well in the Trophy Cup and with the G.L. Bruno Family Foundation and the Children’s Hospital Central California on board, this could be a special weekend.”

Founded in 1978 by Gary L. Bruno, G.L. Bruno Associates, Inc., has become a leader in developing medical facilities throughout California and the western United States. G.L. Bruno Associates, Inc., which is based in Fresno, Calif., focuses on outpatient and ancillary facilities, including cancer centers, surgery centers, imaging centers and medical office buildings.

Tarlton’s family business – Tarlton and Son, Inc. – has done business with G.L. Bruno Associates, Inc., for many years. Tarlton and Son, Inc., has participated in the G.L. Bruno Family Foundation golf tournament for several years as well.

Tarlton and Son, Inc., and the G.L. Bruno Family Foundation have both been supportive of Children’s Hospital Central California, which is a not-for-profit facility in Madera, Calif. It is the second-largest children’s hospital in the state and one of the 10 largest facilities of its type in the nation.

“We’re going to try to win the Trophy Cup and give them some money,” Tarlton said. “It should be fun.”

Earlier this season Tarlton also raced for the Wounded Warriors Foundation.
