Fremont Speedway to hand out point fund money at Nov. 19 banquet

FREMONT, Ohio – Fremont Speedway will hand out its 2011 point fund money and crown its three champions at a gala banquet on Nov. 19 at Ole Zim’s Wagonshed, St. Rt. 590.

The top 10 in points in the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints, Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints and Fremont Fence Dirt Trucks will share in the point fund money. All drivers must be present in order to collect their awards.

Bryan Sebetto, who won four features at “The Track That Action Built” in 2011, earned his first ever track championship in the 410 sprints. It is also the first track title for his car owners Sonny and Sharon Burmeister, who have owned cars that have competed at the track for over 57 years. Sebetto, who also won the Kistler Racing Products Fremont Attica Sprint Title Championship series in 2011, edged Attica Raceway Park track champion Dean Jacobs by just 11 points.

The rest of the 410 sprint top 10 in points were: 3. Byron Reed (3 time track champion); 4. Craig Mintz (2010 track champion); 5. Phil Gressman; 6. Brad Haudenschild; 7. Mike Linder (2 time track champion); 8. Brian Smith; 9. Jody Keegan; and 10. Duane Zablocki. Haudenschild is also the 2011 Rookie of the Year.

In the 305 sprints, Stuart Brubaker earned his third track championship in the last four years. Two-time track champion Paul Weaver was second with Attica Raceway Park track champion Nate Dussel third.

The rest of the top 10 were: 4. Paige Polyak; 5. D.J. Foos; 6. Dustin Dinan; 7. Bobby Clark; 8. Jason Keckler; 9. Jimmy Colvin; and 10. John Ivy (4 time track champion). The 2011 Rookie of the Year is Jordan Ryan.

Art Ball, who leads the track’s all-time win list, earned his third track championship, his first in the dirt trucks. Ball, who completed his 50th year of racing in 2011, edged four time and defending track champion Steve Sabo, while former track champion Cory Ward was third and 2011 Attica champion Bob Dible was fourth.

The rest of the top 10 were: 5. Kent Brewer; 6. Dan Roepke Jr.; 7. Art Howey Jr.; 8. Dan Hennig; 9. Jimmy McGrath; and 10. Brian Sorg. The 2011 Rookie of the Year was Dan Roepke Jr.

Doors will open for the banquet at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. and the awards ceremony at 7 p.m.
