Although it wasn’t a win, it was the next best thing. James McFadden was pleased with his second place finish on the podium in the final round of the SRA Sprintcar Series at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway in Victoria.
After he had started from the outside of the front row in the feature race, the NQ # 25 Totally Workwear Midland & VIC Park supported COOL driver chased after leader Steve Lines for the entire 30-lap distance, but in the end second place was where he finished up.
“We had a really good night, and we were sticking with Linesy [Steve Lines] there and looking strong, particularly in lapped traffic, up until I hit a rut on the track and consequently lost momentum,” McFadden explained. “Although we were unable to come back at Linesy, second place is still a great result, and it capped a consistent night for our team.”
McFadden’s consistent night started with him posting the second fastest lap in qualifying time trials, followed by winning both of his heat races – which saw him achieve the second after starting from the rear of the field, and then came out in second behind Lines in the pole shootout event, and started from the outside of the feature race front row.
The next appearance for McFadden will be the Easter Trail. This annual event starts at Avalon Raceway (Geelong, VIC) on Friday, April 6; then Borderline Speedway (Mount Gambier, SA) on Saturday, April 7; and then the third and final round at Premier Speedway (Warrnambool, VIC) on Sunday, April 8.
Apart from wanting to win the Easter Trail itself, McFadden is aiming to wrap up both of the Avalon Raceway and Premier Speedway Sprintcar Track Championships.
