Hanover, PA — (April 6, 2012) — Lewisberry’s Kyle Moody started on the pole and led every lap in claiming his first career Trail-Way win in Friday night’s season opener for the “358” sprint cars.

“We’ve been waiting for this for a long time,” reflected Moody upon exiting the family-owned Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show/Keener Coatings #99M in victory lane, “We just decided this week to come to Trail-Way tonight, and I’m glad we did.”

“I tried to win here my whole rookie season and never could,” added Moody, “I had to stay focused and hit my marks in lapped traffic.”

Lapped traffic was a factor the entire race, with only one caution flag during the 25-lap event. That came on lap 20, when fourth-place Rick Horn began dropping fluid and sixth-place Brad McClelland spun on the wet stuff on the front stretch and slid into the infield. Horn dropped from the race during the resulting caution.

Third-starting Mike Bittinger and eighth-starting Cris Eash lined up on Moody’s back bumper for the restart, but neither driver could mount a serious challenge, and the two finished second and third.

Rookie driver Shane Hoff (a former regular in Trail-Way micro-sprints) and hard charger Steve Owings (who started 14th) crossed fourth and fifth.

Completing the top ten were 12th-starting Tim Wagaman, Zach Euculano, Joe Trone, Jr., McClelland, and Keith Prutzman.

Heat winners for the 18 “358” sprints were won by Hoff and McClelland.

Bill Diehl never raced at Trail-Way before, but looked impressive in coming from fourth starting spot to win the 20-lap Central PA Legends feature.

Diehl grabbed the lead from outside front row starter John Hall on the second lap and led the rest of the way, despite late-race pressure from sixth-starting Bob Stough, who settled for second, with tenth-starting Scott Houdeshall third, Harlon Leppo fourth, and Tim Henry fifth.

Heats for the 18 Legends cars were won by Houdeshall and Leppo. Stough actually crossed first in heat one, but was put back two spots for hitting the cone on a restart.

A wild Extreme Stock feature saw Jeremy Stremmel take the lead from Joe Racine as Racine was losing an axle and wheel in turns three and four of lap 15. Stremmel led the rest of the way, with Larry Landis and seventh-starting Adam Smith finishing second and third.

Heats for the ten Extreme Stocks were won by Racine and Timothy Hahn.

Terry Hartlaub caught Chad Weaver on lap 12 to claim the 15-lap limited stock feature.

Weaver dropped out with mechanical problems on the next lap, with Cory Weishaar coming on to finish second and Daryl Hanson third.

Heats for the 24 limited stocks were won by Sarah Redmond and Weishaar.

On Saturday (4/7), the 600cc and 270cc Micro Sprints are on the schedule with the Scramble Cars, Saturday Night Limited Stocks and the Central PA Legends. Gates open at 3:30 p.m., and racing begins at 6:00 p.m.

Next Friday (4/13), Trail-Way Speedway will host the 358 Sprint Cars and 1000cc Sidewinder Sprints. The Extreme Stocks and Friday Limited Stocks are also on the schedule. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.

Next Saturday (4/14), Trail-Way will host the Excel Modifieds for the only time this season. Also on the schedule are the 600cc and 270cc Micro Sprints, Scramble Cars, and Strictly Stocks. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. with racing beginning at 6:00 p.m.
