BRANT COUNTY NIGHT AT OHSWEKEN SPEEDWAY FEATURES EXTRA RACING THIS FRIDAY

By Tommy Goudge

(June 13, 2012) – Ohsweken Speedway will be a busy place this week when Lighthouse Tattoos presents “Brant County Night” for round three of Friday Night Thunder. All spectators showing proof of residence in Brant County will be admitted to the speedway for half price this week.

Several races were postponed by weather last week, and will open the program this Friday. Races to be made up this week include the second “Abel Castelein Twin 14” presented by Trailers By Jim Bray for the HRW Automotive Mini Stocks, the B-Main and A-Feature for the Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Cars, and the Lighthouse Tattoos Thunder Stocks feature. Those divisions, along with the Pierced Parts Bombers, will then compete in a full card of regularly scheduled racing, including heat races, B-Mains, and features, with Twin 15’s for the Lighthouse Tattoos Thunder Stocks.

CORR/PAK MERCHANDISING SPRINT CARS.
Heat races for last Friday’s field of 32 Sprint Cars were claimed by Jamie Collard, Tom Huppunen, Jim Huppunen, and Dave Dykstra before rain began to fall as the B-Main was set to start. Those heat race winners and 12 other competitors are locked in to the postponed A-Feature to be run this Friday, including Brad Malloy and Keith Dempster, who will start from the front row. Opening night feature winner Glenn Styres is one of many drivers who will be vying for transfer spots in the rescheduled B-Main.

LIGHTHOUSE TATTOOS THUNDER STOCKS
Derek Miller, Devin Habiuk, Wyatt Van Wart, and Jack Myers were the heat race winners, and Chris Crawford claimed the B-Main for the 34 Thunder Stocks in action last Friday before rain postponed the feature. Opening night feature winner Brad Herron will be looking for two in a row, but a deep and talented field will try to keep him out of the Engine Pro Racing winner’s circle, including 2011 champ Mike Thorne.

HRW AUTOMOTIVE MINI STOCKS
Mike Evers won the first of two “Abel Castelein Twin 14’s” presented by Trailers By Jim Bray last Friday before rain postponed the second of the twin features. Evers and 27 other Mini Stock drivers are eager to reset and race again in honour of their friend. Opening night winner Jason Lungaro was on a charge late in the race, but ended the first feature upside down last Friday. He and other front-running drivers such as 2011 champ Karl Sault will be looking for wins this week.

PIERCED PARTS BOMBERS
Davey Boughton survived a wild ride and kept his car on track to claim his first career Ohsweken feature win last Friday in the Bomber feature. Boughton now sits atop the season standings, followed by Dusty DeBoer, Jesse McDonald, opening night feature winner Max Chechalk, and Jeremy May.
