Crawley races to USCS “Fireworks 150” sprint car win at Malden

Malden, MO – June 29, 2012 – Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas raced to his sixth United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear win of the 2012 season on Friday night at Malden Speedway in the sprint car portion of the 4th annual Fireworks 150. Crawley bested 2010 USCS Southern Thunder regional series Rookie of the Year Jerod Roller from Olive Branch, Mississippi to turn one for the lead and never was headed in his charge to the www.rockauto.com USCS victory lane. Roller raced to the finish line in the runner-up spot just ahead of defending series Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee who finished third. The race’s 2006 winner, Jason Sides also from Bartlett, Tennessee finished in the fourth position and The 2006 USCS Rookie of the Year, Derek Hagar from Marion, Arkansas rounded out the top five drivers.

The 2008 USCS National Rookie of the Year, Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee led the next group in sixth position at the finish. The evening’s Wilwood Engineering Hard Charger, Ronny Howard started thirteenth and finished seventh. Two time Riverside Speedway track Champion and former World of Outlaws driver, Jeff Swindell also from Bartlett, Tennessee finished in the eighth position. The only female driver in the field, 19 year-old 2010 USCS National Rookie of the Year, Morgan Turpen from Oakland, Tennessee finished ninth. She was followed by 2010 USCS Southern Thunder regional series Rookie of the Year, Eric Riggins, Jr. from Charlotte, North Carolina who concluded the top ten finishers.

Terry Gray kicked off the evening’s sprint car racing program by winning the 6-cars, 6-lap Goodyear USCS Speed Dash. Jeff Swindell won the Engler Machine and Tool first Heat. Derek Hagar won the Butlerbuilt Second Heat Race. Veteran Ronny Howard was the Wilwood Engineering Hard Charger in the main event.
