FREMONT, CALIFORNIA (July 27, 2012) – Current Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo points leader Shane Golobic has announced multiple races and rides to add to his already diverse 2012 menu. Golobic will drive in the #22 Keith Day Trucking entry in the upcoming ASCS National Tour events at Hanford and Santa Maria, and follow that up with at least half a dozen appearances for Keith Ford in USAC/CRA and USAC West Coast 360 competition.

Golobic has had a hugely successful season, running consistently in the top-five in a majority of his starts across the Ocean Sprints, King of the West, and USAC & BCRA Midget races. Golobic’s consistent season has yielded one victory at Placerville Speedway in the BCRA Midgets on June 30th.

This week will be a great opportunity for Golobic driving the #22 Keith Day Trucking car normally driven by Ocean Sprints champion Ronnie Day. Golobic will race on Saturday night at Hanford and Sunday evening at Santa Maria Speedway in the televised ASCS National Tour races.

“I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to drive the #22,” Golobic said. “It’s some of the best equipment on the West Coast. I think we’ll be pretty competitive and the car felt pretty good (when we practiced) on Friday. Hopefully I can do something big against those ASCS guys!”

Golobic will also race Friday in a points race for the Ocean Sprints, driving Steve Osborne’s #9J. The month of August will be a busy one for Golobic with five starts currently scheduled with Keith Ford in the #73 USAC Sprint Car.

The Golobic and Ford pairing began at Santa Maria in a USAC/CRA race in June that produced a strong fifth place finish. Golobic will compete in the USAC/CRA races on August 10th at Ocean Speedway Watsonville, August 11th at Santa Maria Speedway, August 18th at the half-mile Perris Auto Speedway, and August 19th at Victorville Speedway. He will also run the USAC West Coast 360 race at Hanford on August 4.

“A few weeks back they were looking for a driver for a CRA race down in Santa Maria and Ryan Bernal threw my name in the hat,” Golobic. “They have an awesome car and a great team! I’m just really looking forward to it. I’ll just go out there and gas it up and see if we can run up front against those USAC guys.”

A San Jose State Engineering student, Golobic is relishing the opportunity to return to Perris after racing there last year in the Oval Nationals.

“I’ve raced quite a few times down at Perris including at the end of last year in the Joe Vonschriltz #121,” Golobic said. “I’m really excited to head down there in a car that I know will be perfect for me. Those CRA guys are tough to beat and that is one of my favorite tracks. It’s really different…and I’m hoping to add that to the list of tracks that I have been competitive at.”

Shane Golobic racing is sponsored by Get Som Sports and Country Builders with a special thanks to Keith Ford, Keith Day, and Doug Bock for the support. Race fans can follow Shane Golobic on Twitter @ShaneGolobic or on his website at www.ShaneGolobic.com
