When the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series heads back into the south, all eyes will be on local favorite, Tim Crawley, as he makes a rare non-wing start for car owner Mike Ward.

On September seventh the series embarks on the famed I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, AR, and on September eighth, TBJ Promotions brings the series to Riverside Speedway, The Ditch, in West Memphis, AR for ‘Topless at the Ditch’, the first time they have been to the track since 1985.

What makes Crawley an intriguing figure is he drives for car owner, Mike Ward, and in 1985, the last time the series was in town, it was Mike Ward standing in victory lane as a driver. Crawley has been a dominant at his home track, and would love nothing more then to bring Ward back to victory lane in non winged fashion.

“I don’t get a chance to run without the wing a lot, but it would be pretty special to defend the home turf against the USAC boys, and go two in a row for Mike (Ward),” Crawley said.

Another unique twist to this event is a $500 dollar bonus being thrown into the fray for the driver utilizing a 360ci power plant with the best average finish at both I 30 Speedway and Riverside Speedway.

“It’s a huge difference between a 360ci and 410ci with a wing, but without a wing, a 360ci is not that much of a disadvantage, so this should definitely add to the excitement,” said TBJ Promotions founder, Tony Bruce, Jr.

Fans can also look forward to watching the race within the race, as the championship fight between, Jon Stanbrough and Levi Jones, is an intense one as the duo swaps the lead on a nightly basis.

Others likely joining the fray are Bryan Clauson, Dave Darland, Damion Gardner, Tracy Hines, Ryan Bernal, Chase Stockton, Brady Bacon, Chris Windom, and many more.
