Elma, WA — (September 8, 2012) — It was an all open wheel affair at Grays Harbor Raceway on Saturday September 8th and nearly became a night full of new winners. When the night was said and done two new 2012 winners were in victory and one repeat victor. Classifications that were in action for the evening were 360 Sprints, USRA Modifieds, and the USAC Ford Focus Midgets.

Trey Starks finally earned his first career GHR victory in the 360 Sprints. The Puyallup teenager would pass Enumclaw’s Henry Van Dam for the lead on lap fifteen in traffic. Starks would become the eight different winner in nine 360 Sprint features.

Second place in the race was Roger Crockett from Medford, Oregon and in third was Henry Van Dam. J.J. Hickle of Quilcene was fourth followed by Reece Goetz in fifth. Fast time of the night was Roger Crockett at 12.608 seconds and heat race winners were Van Dam and Starks.

Pt. Hardy, British Columbia’s Lawrence O’Conner captured his second USRA Modified win of the season. O’Conner managed to gain lots of positions by using the high side and eventually retaking the lead on lap twenty-three.

Scott Miller from Shelton was second and crossing the line in third was Joe German from Wishkah. Kris Asche of Shelton was fourth and the top five was completed with Seabeck’s Craig Moore. The fastest USRA Modified during qualifying was Joe German with a time of 16.159 seconds and heat race victors were Scott Miller and Craig Moore.

The USAC Ford Focus Midgets were back at the 3/8-mile oval speed factory. Jeremy Miller from nearby Montesano became the third different winner in six events. Miller was able to lead for nearly the entire race but definitely had to work hard to keep it with his lead being challenged on several occasions.

Chase Goetz of Snohomish was the runner-up finisher while coming home in third was Michael Millard from Brinnon. The balance of the top five consisted of Garrett Thomas from McCleary was fourth and Poulsbo’s Garrett Johnson was fifth. Stanwood ace Jared Peterson earned fast time of the evening with a time of 16.237 seconds with Jeremy Miller and Chase Goetz earning heat race wins.

Grays Harbor Raceway gets back into action this Saturday September 15th. 360 Sprints, Hobby Stocks, and Hornets will be the three classifications that will be competing. For the latest information regarding GHR be sure and log on to their website http://www.graysharborraceway.com.
