Tony Bruce, Jr and his Bruce Racing team got back to action with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Series over the weekend as they were on display at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, TX on Saturday night.

Making their season debut at the facility, TBJ and his Hinchman Racewear, Pro Auto, Eagle Motorsports machine charged forward from his seventh starting position in his heat to score a third place finish, which qualified him for the redraw.

The five pill put the Oil Medics/Smileys/SWE No.18 car in the third row of the feature event on what was a very racy track that saw a ton of slide-jobs take place.

Rolling off from the five spot, TBJ wasn’t able to get moving forward as he maintained in the fifth spot early in the feature as he raced with Logan Forler and Jason Johnson.

As the race continued on, the track widened out and opened the door for every fans dream, slide-jobs.

Through the sequence of many of the slide-jobs, TBJ was on the wrong end of them, and got shuffled back to the seventh spot late in the race. Looking to get back in the top five, TBJ chased down Johnny Herrera, and Brady Bacon, but was unable to catch them, and ended up scoring a seventh place finish.

“We had a decent car tonight, we just got caught out of sequence of a couple of slide jobs,” he explained “We fell back, and we weren’t able to get any spots back.”

Bruce would like to thank all of his sponsors, Hinchman Racewear, Pro Auto, Eagle Motorsports, The Oil Medics, Smileys, SWE, Maxwell Industries, FK Rod Ends, Butlerbuilt, Factory Kahne Shocks, Randy’s Racing Filters, DriversWebsites.com, Racinboys.com, Wilwood, Zemco Headers, Hoosier Tires, Gaerte Engines, Pro Powder Coating, Fuel Safe, Bell, Weld Wheels, and ISC Racer’s Tape for their support through the 2012 season.

SPONSOR SHOUT OUT: Pro Auto

Located in Memphis, TN, Pro Auto Sales is a friendly family ran, state-of-the-art full service auto repair shop. Owned by Clifford Young, Pro Auto has been a supporter of sprint car racing for several years, and is a quality business in the Memphis Area.

“Clifford Young let me drive his race car last year when I didn’t have National Events to race with my car, but with the increased schedule this year it really left me no time to drive the #7,” said Bruce. “Thankfully Clifford believes in me enough to come on board to our team for the 2012 campaign. I feel lucky to have met and got the opportunity to call him and his family part of mine.”
