USAC/CRA SPRINTS RETURN TO PERRIS FOR ANNUAL FAIR RACE

SANTA MARIA, CA – OCTOBER 3, 2012… This Saturday, October 6th, the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series will return to Perris Auto Speedway for the “Southern California Fair Race.” The annual event will be a split show with time trials and heat races slated to begin at 1:00pm. After a break, the show will resume at “America’s Premier Dirt Track” with main events scheduled for 7:00pm.

Advance tickets for the “Southern California Fair Race” are on sale now for $5 and can be found online at www.socalfair.com. On Saturday, tickets will be sold at the gate for $8. The tickets grant entrance to the fair and the races featuring the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series.

Heading into the eighteenth race of the campaign, Temecula’s Mike Spencer holds a commanding 326 point advantage. On September 15th, the pilot of Ron Chaffin’s #50 Madera Produce / Grubstake Mini Storage Maxim scored the Glenn Howard Memorial victory, making that his eighth win of 2012. In addition, the 4-time series champion has ten Sander Engineering / Rod End Supply Fast Time Awards, five heat race victories, one Keizer Wheels / Ringers Gloves Hard Charger Award, seventeen top-5 finishes, and 164 feature laps led to his credit. Spencer is getting closer to making history with his fifth straight title and leads all drivers with USAC/CRA wins at Perris Auto Speedway

Brody Roa of Buena Park is second in the point chase. Driving the BR Performance #91R HD Industries / Burris Racing Spike, the former Wagsdash Champion placed sixth in the Howard Memorial. As this writing goes to press, Roa has one feature win, two heat race victories, one Competition Suspension Inc. / Diversified Machine Inc. Semi-Main win, one Keizer Wheels / Ringers Gloves Hard Charger Award, six top-five finishes, and 47 feature laps led on the year. Brody will have his sights on his first Perris victory on Saturday.

Sitting third in the championship points is Huntington Beach’s Nic Faas. Piloting Mark Alexander’s #4 Scott Sales Company / Competition Suspension Inc. Spike, the former USAC Western Midget Series Champion ran fourth on September 15th. In 2012, Faas has one feature win, three Sander Engineering / Rod End Supply Fast Time Awards, four heat race victories, two Ringers Gloves / Keizer Wheels Hard Charger Awards, ten top-5 finishes, and 26 feature laps led to his credit. Nic will be looking to win the Southern California Fair Race.

Ryan Bernal of Hollister is currently fourth in the standings. Driving Keith Ford’s #73 King Racing Products / A&A Precision Machine Spike, last year’s USAC West Coast Rookie of the Year missed the Howard Memorial to race in Indiana. To date, Bernal has two feature wins, two heat race victories, one Ringers Gloves / Keizer Wheels Hard Charger Award, eight top-5 finishes, and 94 feature laps led. On Saturday, Ryan will be among the favorites to watch.

Yorba Linda’s “The Ripper” Rip Williams sits fifth in series point chase. Piloting Jack Jory’s #3 John Jory Corporation / AMA Plastics Spike, the 2004 Champion scored third on September 15th. As the writing goes to press, Williams has one Sander Engineering / Rod End Supply Fast Time Award, two heat race victories, one Competition Suspension Inc. / Diversified Machine Inc. Semi-Main win, five top-5 finishes, and 6 feature laps led. “The Ripper” will be in the hunt for Saturday’s 30-lap feature win at Perris.

Among the other top contenders expected to be in action are Austin Williams of Yorba Linda, Ventura’s “The Kruser” Cory Kruseman, Yorba Linda’s “Cadillac” Cody Williams, Seth Wilson of Las Vegas, “Dynamite” David Cardey of Riverside, Visalia’s Richard and Jace Vander Weerd, “Super” Rickie Gaunt of Torrance, and many more.
