Tulsa, OK — (February 25, 2013) — Embarking on their twelfth season of competition, the Griffith Truck and Equipment ASCS Gulf South Region will kick off their 2013 season with a pair of events, beginning at the Golden Triangle Raceway Park Beaumont, Texas on Friday, March 1 followed by competition on Saturday, March 2 at the Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas.

Marked as the 6th annual Prelude to the Gulf Coast Nationals, events at the GTRP will begin at 7:45pm with gates opening at 6pm. The Gulf Coast Nationals at the Battleground Speedway will open their gates at 5pm with races beginning at 7pm.

Ray Allen Kulhanek enters the 2013 season as the defending champion of the Griffith Truck and Equipment ASCS Gulf South Region. The 2012 season yielded five victories for the Danbury, Texas driver with a point’s margin of 264 between he and Brandon Berryman. Travis Elliot, Michael McNeil and Tommy Bryant completed the top five in regional standings.

The 2013 Griffith Truck and Equipment ASCS Gulf South schedule consist of 23 dates that stretch from March through September.

The 2013 season marks the 22nd year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, which brings the best of Sprint Car racing to dozens of different tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series, ASCS also consists of nine different Regions throughout the nation.
