Ohsweken, ONT – (August 29, 2013) – Ohsweken Speedway’s 18th season of racing continues this Friday, August 30 when Nathan Ackland State Farm Insurance presents Labour Day Special Night, featuring Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Cars, Affordable Towing & Recovery Thunder Stocks, HRW Automotive Mini Stocks with a full program along with their postponed A-Feature from July 19, plus Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers, and the TUSA Canada West Mod Lites.

CORR/PAK MERCHANDISING SPRINT CARS
Jamie Collard cut Jim Huppunen’s lead in the Sprint Car standings to 34 points by finishing 4th and 2nd in last week’s double features. Huppunen limited the damage by finishing 3rd and 5th in those events. He and Collard have broken away from 3rd place Mitch Brown, who is 89 points out of the lead now, while Chris Steele and Shane Ross round out the top 5.

Glenn Styres has won 3 Sprint Car features at Ohsweken this season, while Kyle Patrick and Mikey Kruchka have won 2 each, and Jason Barney, Jamie Collard, Mitch Brown, Shane Stewart, and Jim Huppunen have 1 win each.

AFFORDABLE TOWING & RECOVERY THUNDER STOCKS
The Thunder Stock standings remain close, with Lee Winger currently ahead of Jim Lampman by just 10 points, while Cory Turner is just 10 points behind Lampman. Bryce Richardson is still within striking distance as well, just 33 points behind Winger, while Mike Thorne rounds out the top 5, 31 points behind Richardson.

Cory Turner, Karl Sault, Wyatt Van Wart, and Ryan Turner each have 2 Thunder Stock feature wins this season, while Bryce Richardson, Chris Dickie, Jack Myers, Lee Winger, and Dave Silverthorn, Jr. have each taken a feature win as well.

Karl Sault leads Dave Silverthorn, Jr. by just 5 points in the Thunder Stock Rookie of the Year standings.

HRW AUTOMOTIVE MINI STOCKS
The Mini Stocks have extra racing this week, with a regularly-scheduled event on the card, plus their postponed A-Feature from the July 19 rainout. Davey Boughton extended his lead in the Mini Stock standings with his 6th feature win of the season last Friday. Alex Schuts is currently 2nd, followed by Jason Lungaro, Chase Hess, and Laura Hughes.

Davey Boughton has claimed 6 Mini Stock feature wins this season, while Alex Shuts has won 2, and Laura Hughes, Rodney Rutherford, Mike Taylor, and Jason Lungaro have scored 1 each.

GALE’S AUTO AFTERMARKET BOMBERS
Dusty DeBoer extended his lead in the Bomber standings last Friday, but he’s still just 12 points ahead of Tim DeBoer with 2 races left. Max Chechalk, Brady Longboat, and the #6 team of Wayde and Mark Thorne round out the current top 5.

Dusty DeBoer, Jesse McDonald, and Tim DeBoer each have 3 Bomber wins this year, while Tim DeBoer, Max Chechalk, and Chad Foster have also visited victory lane.

TUSA CANADA WEST MOD LITES
This Friday’s race marks the 6th of 7 events for the TUSA Canada West Mod Lites series in 2013. Ridgeway driver Josh Sliter is the current points leader, but his advantage is just 12 points over Medina, New York’s Derek Wagner. Beamsville’s Paul Klager is third, followed by Tim Anderson of Port Colborne, and Mount Hope driver Jeff May.

Josh Sliter swept the first two events for the TUSA Canada West Mod Lites at Merrittville on May 25 and 26, while Tim Anderson took feature wins at South Buxton June 29, and Merrittville on July 13, and Brighton, Ontario driver Dan Ferguson won the most recent race for the series on July 14 at Humberstone.

Randy Hollingshead of Stoney Creek, Bolton driver Jason Corless, Ridgeway’s Ray Sliter, Jr., Jamie Gilbert of Welland, Thorold driver Kory Howe, and Kellie Mason of Virgil have all competed in past Mod Lite events at Ohsweken, and are planning to be in competition this Friday.

Gatineau, Quebec driver Dean Pronovost, Jeff Teeters of Warren, Ohio, Rob Misener, and Welland-area driver Marty deMoel are also ready to race this Friday, along with young drivers Evan Leonard of Stoney Creek, and Dylan Davidson of St. Catharines.
