– LAKE ODESSA, Mich. – Paul McMahan looks forward to returning to I-96 Speedway every year for the annual NAPA Rumble in Michigan.

This year he has added incentive for the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series event on Saturday, May 31. McMahan claimed last year’s race on the half-mile track. However, the track has since been reconfigured to a wider, 3/8-mile oval.

“(The track size) doesn’t matter,” he said. “We run on different race tracks throughout the season. The biggest thing is to figure out what gear to run.”

McMahan was the fourth consecutive different winner of the race last season in an area he is familiar with. McMahan drove for a sprint car team based in Michigan from 1999-2002.

“I’ve got a lot of friends up in Michigan from when I drove the U2 car,” he said. “Our shop was only an hour from I-96 Speedway. We have a lot of friends and family up there.”

McMahan made a late-race pass last year to take the lead en route to his third World of Outlaws feature win of the season. This year he has recorded two feature victories.
