Tulsa Oklahoma (May 27, 2014) – After getting washed out last weekend, the sprint cars of the Oil Capital Racing Series are ready and anxious to head southwest to the Lawton Speedway this Saturday night. There have been five feature winners on the OCRS tour in 2014. Whit Gastineau with two wins, Shane Sellers, Alex DeCamp, Brian McClelland and Gary Owens. ‘GO’ is the only driver this season to have won an OCRS event and a weekly Lawton A-Feature event.

OCRS has produced three different winners in the four trips the series has performed at the Lawton Speedway. In 2010, the first year OCRS pounded Lawton soil, Whit ‘Gasman’ Gastineau won the initial event at ‘Lanny’s House’ followed by Danny ‘The Caretaker’ Smith later that same year. Choctaw Oklahoma’s Kyle Cobb showed what he is made of when he swept the two events that were booked in 2011. OCRS returned to Lawton in 2013 after being away from the speedway in 2012 where Miss Harli White scored a popular victory on her way to the series title.

Smith has come close to Lawton glory having been a runner-up to both White last year and to Cobb in the first race of the dual 2011 events. Fan favorite Robert Sellers has also come close to Lawton’s victory lane in OCRS competition as he was third in last years event and was also third in the 2010 running. Other drivers that have sniffed checkers were Jamie Passmore (third in the first 2011 race), Sean McClelland, (second in the latter event of 2011) and Brady Bacon, current USAC national points leader, who was third in the second 2011 race. Stillwell Oklahoma’s Rafe Essary was a strong second to Gastineau in the 2010 running.

Texas invaders that are projected to appear at this weeks OCRS event is current Lawton Speedway points leader Cody Cothran along with Danny and Tyler Cothran, Chad Koch, TJ Honkomp, TJ Herrell, Brandon Long and Gage Cullar. Others that are very familiar with the Lawton track that may see OCRS action are: Joe Bob Lee, Shawn Bloomquist, Kyle Ezell, and Nick Bates among others.
