(Lebanon, IN)  It was an eventful night on the semi-banked dirt at US 24 Speedway for the Mel Kenyon Midget Series.  Jessica Bean won, Colten Dooley set a new track record and Cole Fehr jumped to the point lead.

Bean shadowed pole sitter Dooley until she ducked under Dooley exiting turn four on lap 13 and completed the pass in turns one and two on lap 14.  Bean took charge at that point leading the remaining laps of the 30-lap feature.  Dooley’s 12.212 eclipsed the old track record by 0.303 seconds.  Bean also turned a fast lap under the existing track record with a lap of 12.263.

Clayton Gaines, Adam Wilsdon and series newcomer Thaddeus Black rounded out the top five.

Cole Fehr took advantage of Travis Young racing in Illinois to jump to the point Mel Kenyon Midget Series Point lead.  Dooley and Bean also moved past Young to take fill the 2nd and 3rd point positions.  Just 46 points now separate the three drivers.

The Mel Kenyon Midget Series will return to US 24 Speedway on Saturday night June 21.  US 24 Speedway will have a full card of open wheel racing on June 21 with practice starting at 6:30.  Racing will kick off at 7:30.
