Holly, MI – (March 27, 2015) – Six-time and defending Super Sprints Series champion Jason Blonde has entered the season opening Must See Racing “Southern Showdown” April 3-4 at Hickory Motor Speedway in Newton, NC. Blonde will be aboard the Mike Blake owned Dynamite Chassis #81 machine. Blake is a two-time former Must See Racing car owner champion. The event will be part of the 10th annual Easter Bunny 150 PASS Super Late Model event.

The Litchfield, MI driver is no stranger to Must See Racing competition. He had competed regularly with the series from 2010-2012. During his time with the series he captured three feature wins and countless ‘Fast Time’ awards. New track records were a common sight for Blonde during his tenure with Must See Racing. Blonde also set a World’s record for a ½ mile speedway when he turned a lap of 13.245 seconds (144.871 mph) at the legendary Bristol Motor Speedway (TN) during “The World’s Fastest Half-Mile Speed Trials” on March 19, 2010. Blonde also broke the track record at the historic Winchester (IN) Speedway on August 21, 2011 with a lap of 13.467 seconds around the high-banked half-mile speedway.

Blonde explained his reasoning for wanting to participate in the Must See Racing season opener.” I’m pretty much just wanting to race” explains Blonde.” I want more seat time. The way our schedule has worked out the last couple of years, I haven’t really run a whole lot. I’m hoping to do a few more shows this year”.

Conversations between Blonde and Blake actually began last fall about doing some races together. “We had talked about going to California. Then we talked about doing some things this year including the Little 500. It will be probably a lot of picking and choosing and not running for points. I’ll probably do a few races with Blake and my regular ride with Tony Nosal in the #42 car”.

Blonde has never been to Hickory Motor Speedway but is none-the-less excited to have the opportunity to race there. “I’ve never been there before. I’m excited to be going to a place like Hickory because of all the history with NASCAR over the years. People have told me it’s a little 3/8 mile, really slick, and eats tires. I’m looking forward to it”.

Both Blake and Blonde are excited about the union between the two. “I know I’m excited and he’s excited. He’s had pretty good cars the last few years, and I think we will work well together. It’s about getting comfortable. If I can do that, I think we will have a good showing down there”.

When asked what would happen if Blonde left Hickory as the Must See points leader and if that would change his plans for the season. “Well, I guess we would run a few more of them and see what happened” concluded Blonde.

Don’t be surprised to see the veteran duo of Blake and Blonde up front during the “Southern Showdown” at Hickory Motor Speedway April 3-4.
