Tulsa, OK — (March 28, 2016) — The first trip into New Mexico for the Carlyle Tools ASCS Southwest Region in 2016 will be a lucrative one as the Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, N.M. gears up for the ASCS Southwest Sprint Car Shootout on Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2.

Formerly a two day event for RaceSaver 305cid Sprint Cars, the two day affair also takes the place of the former Pre-Season Scramble with Friday’s prelim paying out $1,250 to the winner, while Saturday will offer a $5,000 to win, $500 to start A-Feature.

Going into the double-header weekend at the five-sixteenths mile oval, Arizona’s J.T. Imperial leads the Carlyle Tools ASCS Southwest Region by a slim five markers over Bob Ream, Jr. Imperial, with top-fives in each of the season’s first three events in Arizona will be looking to extend his advantage over not only Ream, but eight time ASCS Southwest Regional Champion, Rick Ziehl, who has jumped third in tour standings. Off the lead by only 16 points, the Southern New Mexico Speedway is Ziehl’s home track.

Ryan Linder currently holds fourth with three top-tens to his name in 2016. Linder placed fourth in the series visit in 2016. Casey Buckman currently rounds out the top-five in tour standings.

Arizona’s R.J. Johnson hold the sixth position with Colton Hardy, just off his first ASCS Regional victory at the Arizona Speedway, in seventh. Lance Norick holds eighth with Jeremy McCune and Logan Forler completing the top-ten.
