When Scott Gobrecht purchased Susquehanna Speedway, there was one race that he had penciled in before he even thought about what direction he was taking the speedway.
The race would be the inaugural Kevin Gobrecht Classic that would help keep the memory his of late brother going strong year after year.
And that race is up next on the BAPS Coatings and Supplies 410 Sprint Series as Sunday, May 8 will feature the 30-lap HessIron.com Kevin Gobrecht Classic presented by Bricker’s Famous French Fries.
The race is the second of the seven-race BAPS 410 Sprint Series at the speedway with the remaining dates being a June date TBD, July 17, August 21, September 22 and November 5. Greg Hodnett won the first BAPS Sprint Series race on April 10 at the York Haven oval.
The race will also be held on Mothers Day as the first 100 Moms that enter the grandstands will receive pink carnations.
“We’re very excited about round two of the BAPS Coatings and Supplies 410 Sprint Series,” Gobrecht said about the big event planned. “It’s going to be a special day as we remember Kevin while celebrating all of the Moms out there. Our Mom is such a big part of our racing family and it seems fitting to have the Kevin Gobrecht Classic on Mothers Day. Many of the drivers in our sport have a great Mom supporting their efforts so it will be great to celebrate them on May 8th. We’re grateful for BAPS, HessIron.com and Bricker’s Famous French Fries for supporting this special event.”
Fans heading out to the speedway for this special event will not only be treated to great racing on the revamped speedway but will be able to enjoy several fan friendly events before the races.
Live entertainment by the band Bare Creek Junction presented by the Beer Hill Gang will be playing before the races and Valley Green Beverage will once again be serving free beer to race fans featuring Busch Light, Busch, Goose Island and Bud Light Watermelon. Free Beer will be available from 2-6pm.

And finally, any fan entering the grandstand will receive $2.00 off their admission if they are sporting Beer Hill Gang apparel.
