SANTA MARIA, CA (August 20, 2026) — Aaron Reutzel kicked off the west coast swing with the Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing series Thursday night at Santa Maria Speedway in productive fashion by winning the feature event and taking over the series point lead.

Reutzel, from Clute, Texas, took the lead after a mid-race restart from

Tanner Holmes took the lead from the front row at the start of the 35-lap main event from Reutzel. It did not take long for Holmes to start overtaking slower cars, which set up a four car race for the lead between Holmes, Reutzel, James McFadden, and Gage Montgomery 10 laps into the main event.

One lap later the caution flag appeared for D.J. Netto, who slowed with a flat right rear tire. On the ensuing restart Corey Day went over Tyler Courtney’s wheel and flipped into turn one to bring out the red flag.

As the cars were slowing down, Montgomery got into the wall in turn three and damaged his car too much to continue Day was able to exit the car under his own power, but the car suffered too much damage to continue.

Rico Abreu got together cars while avoiding Day’s flip and had to go to the work area. Abreu’s team was able to make repairs in time to join the tail of the field of the restart.

Holmes continued to lead following the restart, but Reutzel quickly closed in as Holmes caught the back of the field. On lap 19 Reutzel was able to slide in front of Holmes to take the lead.

McFadden was able to dispose of Holmes one lap later after using a lap car as a pick down the backstretch.

McFadden was able to get a couple of looks under Reutzel for the lead but could not make the pass. From there Reutzel motored away for the victory over McFadden, Holmes, Tim Kaeding, and Brent Marks.

Reutzel’s victory combined with Abreu’s 17th place finish was enough to propel Reutzel to the top of the High Limit point standings by 30 markers.

The High Limit Racing west coast swing continues Friday night at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California.
