Jerry Coons Jr. drove the Wilke-PAK#11 to a three straight runner-up finishes during the recent USAC National Midget Car Series events at Angell Park Speedway, on Aug. 28-29 and the Firemans Pepsi Midget Nationals on Sept. 4. The three events were promoted by CW Promotions/Chris Wilke.
The finishes have placed the team back into the chase for the 2010 USAC National Midget Car Championship, with nine races remaining. Wilke-PAK is now only 63 points out the lead in Car Owner Points, while Coons trails leader Bryan Clauson by 101 markers in the drivers standing.
This Saturday Night Sept. 18 action will take place at the Ohio’s 1/3-mile paved Columbus Motor Speedway. Following Columbus will be the USAC Four Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway, site of three previous Wilke USAC victories on Sept. 24-25. The Midwest portion of the schedule concludes the following week with three-day Gold Crown Nationals at Tri-City Speedway, outside of St. Louis, Mo.
