FORLER LEARNS LESSONS IN FIRST TRIP TO DEVIL’S BOWL

From Inside Line Promotions

– MESQUITE, Texas (March 28) – Last weekend was an education for Logan Forler.

In his first appearance at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, Forler advanced to both ASCS National Tour features at the 38th annual Devil’s Bowl Spring Nationals against more than 50 other sprint car teams.

“I feel happy to make each show,” Forler said. “There were a lot of competitive cars.”

Forler’s weekend didn’t start out well, but it gradually improved every time he was on the odd-shaped track.

“This place is really difficult to get a grip on,” the 17-year-old from Lake Havasu City, Ariz., said. “The corners are completely different.”

Forler, who started in the final row of his heat races both nights, advanced one position on Friday, which relegated him to start 13th in one of the two B Mains. Forler rallied to place seventh, but was four positions out of a transfer.

He elected to take a provisional – his first ASCS National Tour pass of the year. Forler finished 19th in the main event and the extra laps on the track helped prepare him for Saturday.

Forler rocketed from seventh to third in his eight-lap heat race, which earned him the 12th starting position for the feature. He worked his way into the top 10 before the track took rubber.

“I misjudged the rubber down,” said Forler, who at one point fell to about 20th. “I didn’t smell it soon enough. Once I finally found it, it was too late.”

Forler passed a few cars in the final laps to finish 17th – his fourth consecutive top 20 with the ASCS National Tour.

He moved up to 10th in the ASCS National Tour points and remains in second in the Rookie of the Year chase.

Forler will take this weekend off before returning to the track on April 8-9 at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., with the ASCS Midwest Region.
