LASOSKI EARNS PAIR OF TOP FIVES AT DEVIL’S BOWL

– MESQUITE, Texas (March 28) – He wore a smile in the pits, but it was a forced one.

Danny Lasoski was frustrated with himself after the 38th annual Devil’s Bowl Spring Nationals at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, on Saturday evening.

“I just made a wrong decision in the pits before we went out,” said Lasoski, who led at one point before finishing fourth. “My plan was to make a bold move, get the lead. I knew rubber (on the track) was coming, but I didn’t know when. I was too tight.”

Lasoski, who started fifth, drove into second place by the backstretch of the second lap. He eventually got the lead on a restart with 12 laps remaining before eventual winner Sam Hafertepe Jr. passed him.

Lasoski then held on for fourth in the difficult car. But he wouldn’t have gotten to that point without his performance on Friday.

After a tire issue hindered him in the heat race, the Dover, Mo., native drove from eighth to second in his B Main to earn a transfer to the feature. Lasoski then piloted from 20th to fourth, making a last-lap pass on Michael Dupuy to claim the final lock-in spot to Saturday’s feature.

“I had a pretty good idea what he was going to do,” Lasoski said. “I thought it was gonna take another corner.”

Lasoski’s two top-five finishes give him seven top 15s in eight features this season.
