FORLER SPENDS WEEK OFF FOCUSING ON PROGRAM

From Inside Line Promotions

– LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (April 4) – Logan Forler spent last weekend away from the track, but focused on his sprint car team.

The 17-year-old from Lake Havasu City, Ariz., who is competing full-time on the ASCS National Tour, sat down with veteran crew chief Troy Renfro to discuss how to improve the program.

“We’re trying to make everything better from the trailer and race car to the organization,” Forler said. “We just want to make sure we can be the best we can with what we have.”

Forler acknowledged the area he needs to improve on the most is his aggressiveness on the track.

“It’s an experience thing,” said Forler, who is in his fourth year in a sprint car and first year traveling nationally.

“I just need to work on my confidence a little bit. Since you’re racing with people who’ve done a lot more than you, it can make you timid. But I think it has gotten better and the more I race with the top drivers, the better it’ll get.”

On a positive note, Forler pointed out his bond with Renfro as a strength of the program.

“The best thing we’ve got going for us is the relationship between Troy and myself,” Forler said. “We get along well and see eye-to-eye.

“Also, I think that for myself as a driver, I’ve been pretty patient and calm, and haven’t overdriven the car.”

Forler returns to the track this Friday and Saturday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., for a pair of ASCS Midwest Region races. He’s never raced at the 4/10th-mile oval.

“I’m pretty good on big tracks,” Forler said. “I’ve heard it’s really racy and fast, so I’m excited about it.”
