(Riverside, CA, April 7, 2011) Riverside, California’s David Cardey made it two podium finishes in as many weeks when he came home third in the 30-lap USAC/CRA main event last Saturday night at Perris Auto Speedway. (Media, there is a photo of David Cardey attached to this release. Please feel free to use the photo. If used, please give photo credit to: Doug Allen.

Saturday started off with a bang when Cardey out qualified the 21-car field for his first fast time of the 2011 campaign. The 35-year-old star started sixth in his 10-lap heat race and finished second. That assured him of starting eighth in the A Main event.

When the main started, Cardey pushed the red #59 Viper Chassis up to sixth by the end of the first circuit. He stayed in sixth until dropping back one spot at the end of the fourth go around. From lap 12 through lap 20, his race was a methodical, but consistent, drive towards the front. He was up to fifth on lap 12 and was in third just before lap 20. The final ten laps saw him survive a torrid battle for third to get his second podium finish of the year.

Cardey’s finish left him alone in second place in the 2011 USAC/CRA championship point standings. The next race on the USAC/CRA schedule will be at the Giant Chevrolet King’s Speedway in Hanford on May 7th. As this piece went to press, due to his tight racing budget, Cardey hopes to make that race, but is not 100% sure he will be there. If he misses Hanford, his next outing will be at the annual Salute to Indy at Perris Auto Speedway on May 28th.

The new David Cardey t-shirts are in! Cardey’s first batch of 2011 t-shirts came in just before the Perris race. The crew will have them available at the Cardey racing hauler at all of their remaining races in 2011.
