Fremont Rained Out

From Brian Liskai

FREMONT, Ohio – High fuel prices coupled with a not-so-promising weather forecast has prompted Fremont Speedway officials to cancel racing for Saturday, May 7.

“In today’s economy, race tracks, teams and fans have to keep a very close eye on their finances. Unfortunately, Saturday was a situation where there’s a better than average chance of rain and storms. With fuel prices over $4 a gallon, race teams and fans will look at that and have to make a decision based on their pocket-book and that will impact the track’s bottom line,” said Fremont Speedway Promoter Rich Farmer.

“As a track promoter you have to take ALL the issues into consideration if you want to survive and prosper. I feel bad for the diehard fans and teams, but we want them to enjoy themselves through the entire season,” added Farmer.

Fremont Speedway will be back in action Saturday, May 14 for Roots Poultry Night. It will be a Kistler Racing Products Fremont Attica Sprint Title (FAST) Championship Series event for the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 sprints. The Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints and Fremont Fence & Guardrail Dirt Trucks will also be in action.

And coming Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29, the O’Reilly Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champion Sprint Cars will make their first appearance of 2011 at “The Track That Action Built.”
