(Riverside, CA, May 11, 2011) David Cardey ventured north to Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway in Hanford, California for the USAC/CRA race last Saturday night and picked up an eighth place finish in the main event on the fast 3/8 of a mile dirt oval. For Cardey it was his fourth top ten finish in four starts in 2011. He remains second in the USAC/CRA point standings.

The veteran racer started the evening by posting the third fastest qualifying lap in the 24 car field. He came from near the back to take the victory in the third heat race of the night and started the main event on the outside of the third row.

Things started out on the wild side for Cardey in the 30-lap main event when turn one bunching saw him drop four spots. The veteran racer quickly gathered it in and advanced up to the sixth place spot before getting spun out. That forced Cardey to the back of the pack for the restart and much to the delight of the crowd, he quickly worked his way through the field, but as luck would have it, he was tagged from behind and spun again. Cardey was able to keep his foot in it on the second spin, got the car aimed in the right direction and never stopped. However, it did cost him three or four spots in the talent laden field. He went the remainder of the way without any other problems and was eighth when the checkered flag ended the main.

“It was a good night considering,” the 35-year-old Riverside resident said. “We had a good qualifying time, won our heat and still managed to take eighth in the main despite the problems.”

Cardey, who came into the night 29 points out of the lead in the championship chase, closed the gap to a mere six-points heading into the next race on May 28th at Perris Auto Speedway.

As always, the team will have the popular “Dynamite” David Cardey t-shirts for sale at all of their remaining races in 2011.
