FORLER EARNS TOP 10 IN JACKSON

Inside Line Promotions

– JACKSON, Minn. (June 28) – It was fast and it didn’t take long for Logan Forler to notice.

Jackson Speedway in Jackson, Minn., opened the eyes of the 18-year-old from Lake Havasu City, Ariz., last Friday in his first race at the big, ½-mile dirt oval.

“It was really fast,” he said. “The straightaways are like a big dragstrip.”

In the twin heat race format, Forler charged from seventh to third in his first heat and he won his second heat from the pole. That placed him eighth in points and earned him a bid in the dash.

“It was just a matter of who had the guts to stand on the gas and go around people,” Forler said. “The place is so fast and you had to get so close to people to pass them.”

The track also started out narrow, but widened as the night wore on. Forler finished the dash in eighth, which is where he started the feature. However, as he entered the first turn on the opening lap, Forler misjudged the corner and slid off the edge.

He dropped to last place and was able to work his way through the field to finish 10th – his ninth top 10 of the season.

“I was kinda just picking them off as I could,” he said. “It was one of those places where if you got together with somebody it was going to hurt. It seemed like a lot of people were driving really cautious.”

Forler is set for a three-race weekend, including an ASCS Midwest Region doubleheader beginning Thursday at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb. Friday he’ll race at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb.

He will wrap up the weekend on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
