BIG BUCKS “LEGENDS OF ASCOT TROPHY DASH” AT BUDWEISER OVAL NATIONALS!

By Scott Daloisio

(Perris, CA, August 3, 2011) Great rivalries in sports are nothing new and they have captured the imagination of fans from one end of the country to the other. The Yankees vs Dodgers, Lakers vs Celtics and Michigan vs Ohio State are just a few of the more contentious rivalries in sports. They not only pit teams against each other, but they also represent different lifestyles and cultures. At Perris Auto Speedway on Friday night, November 4th, another epic rivalry will take place. The 2nd Annual “Legends of Ascot Match Race” will pit two top drivers from the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series and two from Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series in a winner take all “Big Buck” match race. And, to add a little intrigue to the event, this year a “Wild Card” driver will be added to the festivities. The race will take place on night two of the Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals.

“This event is going to be huge,” Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian said before leaving on vacation on Sunday. “Bobby Michnowicz put it together last year and David Cardey walked off with the $5,000.00 first place prize. This year Bobby is hoping it will pay more than $7,000.00 to win. That is pretty darn good for only 16-laps of racing. I can’t wait to see it. I wish it was November 4th right now.”

The top two drivers in points who accept the challenge from both the USAC/CRA and USAC National Series will lock horns on the famous Riverside County half-mile clay oval. “Just look at the top two in each series right now,” Kazarian said. “If they accepted, what a lineup it would be! However, there are major stars lurking right around the top two spots who will fight to get in this deal. And, what about the wild card? Who will it be?”

This year is the 16th Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals and the race has grown in prestige from day one. “When we staged the first Budweiser Oval Nationals back in 1996, we never dreamed that it would grow to be this popular,” Kazarian said. “It is now one of the biggest Sprint Car events in the world. With the addition of the “Legends of Ascot Match Race,” it just got bigger. For those who have always wanted to come to the Oval Nationals, but have never made it, the time is now.”

Would you like to get involved and help sponsor this epic race? If yes, please give Bobby Michnowicz a call (310 347-6661) and he will fill you in on the details and the perks that come with being a sponsor of the “Legends of Ascot Match Race.”
