Burlington, IA — (May 28, 2013) — It has been four years since the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series has competed at 34 Raceway.

That changes on Friday, June 7, when the premier sprint car series embarks upon the 3/8-mile oval for only the third time ever.

“It’s always nice to go someplace different,” Paul McMahan said. “Going to the same places over and over is nice, but to go somewhere different you don’t see a lot evens the playing field.”

Joey Saldana claimed the most recent event at 34 Raceway in 2009 and Tony Bruce Jr. won the inaugural race in 2008.

Current World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series championship points leader Daryn Pittman charged from 14th to sixth to earn the KSE Hard Charger Award in the 2008 event to add to his IRA win at 34 Raceway earlier that season.

“It’s a really nice facility,” he said. “It’s a cool shaped track; kind of a fast 3/8. I’ve only been there twice and felt like I’ve been good there both times.”

Jason Sides is the only driver to earn a top five in each of the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series events at 34 Raceway. Donny Schatz, who is second in the championship points, has finished in the top seven twice with Jason Meyers and Jac Haudenschild garnering a top-10 finish in both previous events.
