The opening weekend of the season was a success for Big Game Motorsports and driver David Gravel. The team captured its first World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series victory of the year and produced three top fives during the four-race Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals hosted by Volusia Speedway Park.
Brad Sweet and David Gravel can’t seem to get away from each other. For the third consecutive year, the two are heading to The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the World Finals (Nov. 1-4) engaged in a war for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car championship. Sweet – the four-time and reigning titlist – holds a 50-marker advantage with a trio of points-paying races remaining.
A decade ago, David Gravel was still looking to make a name for himself in Sprint Car racing. The Watertown, CT native had picked up a few notable wins and turned some heads, but he was still in search of a breakthrough opportunity. With the allure of Tod Quiring’s Big Game Motorsports team catching his eye, the young driver decided to ask for a chance.
