GENEVA, NY — We may be in the depth of winter, where the idea of racing takes place only on the other side of the globe, but that can’t slow down race teams busy preparing for the upcoming season.
Robbie Shuttleworth is back in his hometown of Geneva, still busy with school but equally focused on a very exciting racing season.
In 2009, “The Pocket Rocket” got his feet wet in some new ventures, including running numerous wingless events in the Midwest near his Brownsburg, IN summer locale. The plan is for more events in 2010, allowing him to build on the experience the 16-year-old picked up this past year.
“The winter has been going good,” Shuttleworth recently noted. “We’re making plans to once again head to Brownsburg and race numerous USAC and other non-wing sprint events.”
Robbie stayed in Indiana from June through August, when it was time to head home to New York and get ready for school. Along the way, he looked to rejoin the ASCS Patriots in Ohio, an idea that turned ugly just seconds in to the venture.
“After having a rough end to 2009 with something breaking in the steering at Sharon, I’m ready to get back in the seat and I look forward to another great year,” Robbie admitted.
In addition to the multitude of non-wing events planned in the Midwest, Robbie will also find time to throw the wing back on and run in Western Ohio with the NRA Sprint Invaders. Travis Kemp will be teaming with Robbie on these special ventures.
The Shuttleworth Motorsports team still has space available for sponsorship in 2010, but there are some major partners in the works, which will be released at a later date.
Robbie receives support from Shuttleworth Asphalt Sealing, Lane’s Yamaha, The Country Porch, Mike Emhof Motorsports, BR Motorsports, DMI and Keizer Aluminum Wheels.
