Sides Goes Three for Four at Ohsweken

Friday July 30th, 2010 – (Ohsweken, Ont) – Jason Sides continued his domination of World of Outlaws competition at Ohsweken Speedway Friday night by winning his third feature in just four events ever held by the Outlaws at Ohsweken. Sides dominated most of the 30-lap main event until the final laps when Craig Dollansky closed in to give Sides a run for the win, but Sides managed to hold on for the victory.

“This track has been really good to us; (Ohsweken) is a great place with great fans and everything. It’s just one of those places we really like,” said Sides in victory lane. “We could run the top and bottom, it’s a good race track “

By virtue of winning the dash Sides started on the pole with the only other driver to win a World of Outlaws at Ohsweken, Jason Meyers, alongside. Sides motored into the lead with Meyers and Kraig Kinser behind him.

By the time Sides encountered slower traffic he had lapped cars three wide in front of him. Sides managed to clear the slower cars and opened up his lead over Meyers while Kraig and Steve Kinser battled for third. Steve tried a slide job on his son on lap 11, but could not make the pass.

Sides continued to open up his lead at the halfway point cutting through lapped cars to extend his advantage over Meyers. After a torrid battle Steve Kinser took third away from his son Kraig. The while attempting to work lap seventeen Alain Bergeron spun. Meyers and Kinser were collected in the incident, bringing out the caution flag. All three cars went to the work area, with only Meyers and Kinser able to restart.

Sides chose the bottom for the double file restart with Steve Kinser on his outside. Sides was not intimidated by the “King of the Outlaws” and motored into the lead. Soon fifth starting Craig Dollansky began to assert his power and challenged Kinser for second. Dollansky took the spot and set sail after Sides. Kinser continued to drop through the field as Schatz and Joey Saldana moved by to take away third and fourth.

With a straightaway advantage Sides began to lap slower cars. This time Sides was not able to move through traffic as quickly and allowed Dollansky to close. As the white flag came out DOllansky was in striking distance. Dollansky tried to make a run off of turn two for the lead, but Sides had enough momentum to motor around for the victory. Dollansky held on for second with Schatz, Saldana, and Kinser rounding out the top five.

Kraig Kinser set a new track record during qualifications with a lap of 12.047 seconds at 112.061 miles per hour, nearly breaking into the elusive 11 second bracket. Danny Lasoski, Chad Kemenah, Joey Saldana, and Craig Dollansky won heat race events. Sides won the dash, while During the first heat race Randy Hannagan and Jamie Collard tangled with Collard getting upside down in turn two. Collard emerged from his car under his own power. Hannagan came back to win the B-Main.
