Trevor Berry Takes 1st Ever Sprint Feature at Spartan Speedway

From MudclodBob

Trevor Berry could not have hoped for better results Friday when he took his first ever green flag in a sprint car feature, and was the first car to take the checkered flag after 30 laps. Berry was piloting the Fedewa Motorsports #7B and drove from an 8th place starting spot and took the lead on the 11th circuit and led the remainder of the event.

Pole starter Mike Astrauskas held the top spot for the initial five laps when Jimmy McCune took over. On the 11th lap Berry had charged to the front and took the lead over McCune, Gary Sherman, Tommy Fedewa (up from 9th) and Astrauskas. Racing was intense from 2nd back to 6th for several laps and by the 18th lap Fedewa moved into 2nd and looked to be charging to the front but never was able to catch the fast running Berry. At the checkers it was Berry, Fedewa, Sherman, Leroy Ellis (1st sprint start) and Steve Smith.
Doug Dietsch and Jimmy McCune won the sprint heats for the 17 cars.
