Climbing back aboard the Rich Farmer No.29x machine, Shane Stewart was hoping to duplicate the success the team had at Ohio Speedweek, unfortunately heavy rains played a big role on Saturday night at the Lernerville Speedway, and the 29x team had their issues.
After working the track back in after a torrential downpour, Stewart would qualify on a very green track, and ended up 22nd on the speed-chart as times got better as the session wore on, and the track came in.
Starting eight in his heat, Shane was unable to make up any ground on the locked down Lernerville Speedway, and found himself in the B main, for one last shot at qualifying for the Commonwealth Clash feature event.
Starting sixth in the Last Chance Showdown, Stewart would gain a spot as the green flag waved, and maintained the position to earn the transfer, and grid the field in the 23rd spot.
Taking on the best in the world, the Bixby, OK native had his work cut out for him, as he tried to work the thick cushion in hopes of moving forward.
To no avail, Stewart found himself marred in traffic and couldn’t get moving forward, and ended the night in the 21st spot.
“I’m just in a funk right now,” said Stewart. “The track was tough tonight, but there was some opportunity to make some passes, we just couldn’t get going to do so. I have to thank Rich Farmer and his guys for getting me out here tonight, I just wish we could of ran a little better.”
ON TAP: Shane will now climb back aboard the 3G machine and take on the Lucas Oil ASCS National Series at the Lucas Oil Raceway in Wheatland, MO this Friday and Saturday night.
